Hey what do you guys think of Honda bringing the Si back in hatch form? I know some people liked the coupe, but the hatch is the true Si to me. Give me your thoughts, would you buy one?

There goes being able to tilt the seat waaaaaayyy back! ..gotta have monkey arms for that.

You know they were saying something interesting about 2 years back when Honda was saying that their next generation of Civic was going to have an in-dash shifter. They were saying that it was a cable linkage! And that it wouldn't be as nice as our tubular shift linkage.

    Plus notice on this picture....

    2002 civic type r 27 thmb

...how close the guy is to the steering collumn, the angle of his knees, the closeness of the dash to the window - which means foot room isn't too deep, and having to stay close to the shifter! I kinda wonder if the seat isn't pitched back or angled enough to give leg support for the angle of the knees. I jsut ponder on this stuff since I have my seats about 3 clicks from the full back position in my CRX as it is....and the Civic's being a taller seat, about a couple clicks less then that. ..Interesting, I really want to see this Civic HB when it rolls onto the showroom floor.

However I do approve of it...just skeptical. I bet that thing with the RSX engine will fly! In fact, since the RSX is getting an engine about equivalent to an H22A Prelude VTEC engine, I bet that the swap will be amazingly powerful and torquey. They said 146 ft lbs of torque!!!

And I even bet that Hatchback is lighter then the 92-95 versions....and since it's already stiffer - that would make for an amazing AutoX hatchback or streetcar. I can't wait for it to hit the floor.

Im actually very excited to take it for a test spin. Im not sure how well its going to sell though. Hb's are you love them or hate them. I do think that the HB will look pretty good with some body kits "nothing tacky" , lowered and a set of beefy wheels, it might look pretty hot. The headlights are pretty ugly though frown

now for the shifter, i kinda like it. i am 5'9" and all leg. i also like to lay my seats back a lil. but, with the seat back for my legs and tilted my poor arms are reaching for the steering wheel and dash controls. i think everything built to be closer to the dash would work for me.

then again, i suppose if i really wanted the leg room and such i should still be driving my old '90 accord.

i have a 7'1" friend who used to drive an '85 CRX......talk about no leg room

But it only gets soo good right? Remember how they pictured the newer prelude on the last generation....and then how it was actually introduced...kinds Shocked everybody I think.

Here's a rule I have always followed about a car. The distance between the ending point of the windshield at the bottom and the steering collumn is equivalent to how much leg room you will have.

To combat this you can either move the seat up and this bends your legs a bit, or tilt the seat if it's slammed on the floor liks a crx - offering much more leg support.

I'll have pics of what I did for the CRX here soon on the interior.

I bought a 300mm wheel, 2" Boss adapter extension and supplied the extra long 3" hex head boss screws for the adapter (what a pain it was finding them...well till I went to fastenal, love those place)..then I plan to cut down the slot in the collumn that holds the tilt pin - cut it down to drop the tilt stop even lower. Then it will be able to sit about 4 inches above my lap! Maybe not that low - but right now it sticks like straight up..hahaha, annoys me at times. I also just got ahold of a factory Integra GSR shortsfhiter with the curved neck. It relocates the shifter knob back about 2 inches from the looks of it. I even looked into relocating the shifter back, but their may be a floor member conflict and exhuast recut involved!

    ...back to new civic.

    2002 civic type r 27 thmb

I'd like to replace that red hazard switch with an S2000 engine start button!!!!...yeah baby! ...vaROOOOM!
